Why I'm Running for Dublin City Council, as an independent in the Artane-Whitehall LEA

Published on 20 April 2024 at 17:50

My name is Ian Croft, an independent candidate in the upcoming local elections this June. With nearly four decades of residence here, my roots run deep in our community. As a seasoned advocate with extensive experience liaising with Dublin City Council on behalf of residents, I'm committed to transforming our local area through dedicated public service.

Local at Heart, Professional in Action

As a founding member of our local Tidy Town group and a professional counsellor, I have a unique blend of community engagement and professional expertise. My hands-on experience in enhancing our neighbourhood’s environment and advocating for mental health makes me uniquely equipped to represent you.

Comprehensive Plans for Real Change

If elected, I pledge to:

  • Enhance Community Safety: By reinstating full-time operations at the Santry Garda Station and advocating for increased Garda presence.
  • Support Mental Health and Well-being: Especially focusing on teens and those affected by drug use and domestic abuse through comprehensive support programs.
  • Economic Measures: From making childcare more affordable to reforming housing policies to ensure affordability and tackling poor distribution of revenue generate through the local property tax (LPT).
  • Innovative Governance: Introducing a citizen engagement portal for better communication and transparent governance.

Let’s Build a Better Future Together

I am running to make a tangible difference in our community by addressing the immediate needs and long-term challenges. I invite you to join me in this journey to shape the future of Artane-Whitehall. Let's champion change together for a safer, more prosperous community.
